Taxi from Lanzarote Airport to Arrecife

Arrecife has been the capital of Lanzarote since 1852, when it took over from Teguise, and it is the island's only real town: shops, offices, the main hospital, the port and a long seafront promenade. Most visitors pass through it on the way to somewhere else, but it repays a stay, especially for travellers who come for work, to visit family or to join a cruise.

What there is in Arrecife

The most photographed corner is the Charco de San Ginés, a saltwater lagoon in the old town lined with fishermen's houses, little boats and restaurants. On the seafront, the Castillo de San Gabriel stands on its own islet, reached by a stone bridge, and further north the Castillo de San José houses the International Museum of Contemporary Art, set up by César Manrique, with a restaurant looking over the harbour. The town beach, El Reducto, is a sheltered stretch of sand right next to the centre, and the main shopping street, León y Castillo, runs inland from the promenade.

The ride from the airport

The airport is only about 7 km away along the coast, so the taxi ride takes around 15 minutes on the ring road, a little more at rush hour. Your driver takes you to the exact address you give us: a hotel on the seafront, a flat in a residential street, an office or the port.

Going to a cruise ship?

Cruise ships dock at the port of Los Mármoles, on the northern side of town. Choose Arrecife as your destination, write the cruise terminal as your address and send us your boarding time by WhatsApp or email, so we can plan the pick-up around it.

Back to the airport

Because the airport is so close, a pick-up about 2 hours and 15 minutes before your flight leaves is usually enough. If you are travelling at a busy time of year or with a lot of luggage, add a little margin.
