How much is a taxi from Lanzarote Airport?
What you pay for a taxi from Lanzarote Airport to your resort, how the meter works at the rank and when a fixed fare booked in advance makes more sense.
It is one of the first questions people ask before flying to Lanzarote: how much will the taxi from the airport cost? The short answer is that it depends on where you are staying, how many of you there are and whether you take a taxi from the rank or book one in advance. This guide explains both options so you can choose before you land.
Taxis from the rank: paying by the meter
Outside the arrivals hall at César Manrique-Lanzarote Airport there is an official taxi rank. Taxis there charge by the meter, following the official rates of the island, with an airport supplement and higher rates at night, at weekends and on public holidays. You only know the final fare when you arrive, and luggage or a large group can mean you need a bigger vehicle or two cars.
On a quiet afternoon this works well. At busy times, when several flights land close together, the queue at the rank can be long, especially in school holidays and around Christmas and Easter.
A taxi booked in advance: one fixed fare
With a pre-booked airport taxi the fare is agreed when you book and it is for the whole vehicle, not per person. It does not change if the flight is late, if there is traffic or if you land in the middle of the night. Your driver waits in the arrivals hall with your name, and child seats and luggage are included.

Which option works out cheaper?
For a couple going to Arrecife or Puerto del Carmen, the meter and a fixed fare are usually close. The fixed fare tends to be the better deal when:
- you are travelling to the far south or north, such as Playa Blanca, Haría or Órzola;
- you land late at night or on a Sunday or public holiday, when meter rates go up;
- you are a family or group of five or more, who would otherwise need a large taxi or two cars;
- you are travelling with young children and need car seats ready in the vehicle.
And the bus?
Public buses connect the airport with Arrecife and some of the resorts, and they are the cheapest option for one or two people travelling light. They follow a timetable, stop along the way and may require a change in Arrecife, so they are less practical with children, a lot of luggage or a late flight.
Tips to pay less and travel better
- Book the way back at the same time. It costs the same as the way there and you will not have to think about it on your last day.
- Add your flight number. If the flight is delayed, the driver adjusts the pick-up and the first hour of waiting is free.
- Count every passenger, babies included. By law every child needs a seat, and the right one is fitted at no extra cost.
